Blake Lewis is a self-taught photographer, art director and artist. His work seeks to open discussion about religious effects on individuals and society, the western culture, obsessive beliefs and tendencies, suburban adolescence, and the patriarchal grip in all aspects of society; focusing primarily on the western United States. Growing up in a highly religious community, he is drawn to the irreverence of religious practices and rituals, while realizing and showing admiration for one’s belief system. He works to gain respect and commonality with his subject, in order to create an honest and realistic narration, as far as may be possible.
He grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and currently lives in New York.
